All good things come back around, right? Or not so good things, depending on how you look at it. Take the choker necklace, cargo pants, or fanny packs, for example (one style we sure hope isn’t coming back are ultra-thin eyebrows - we can live without that austere look). But we are 100% on board for the return of the blue mascara!
It seems strange to consider, especially for those who lived through the original blue mascara scene, but it is absolutely making a comeback. People are buying blue mascara again and it doesn’t have to be tacky. We have been seeing the most beautiful looks that include blue mascara.
So, if you’re wondering how to really rock the blue mascara look, consider these popular options.
Pair your blue mascara with a bright blue eyeliner. The double blue, similar to the double denim, might actually work. This may make the blue mascara pop a bit more, instead of wash it out with a black eyeliner.
We recommend testing out ColourPop’s recent mascara launch. This blue is beautiful and promises to give volume, lift, and length to your lashes! You cannot go wrong with this mascara, especially considering it won’t break the bank with an $8 price tag.
You may not be ready to fully commit to the blue mascara look. That’s okay. If not, consider trying blue mascara on your upper lashes and black mascara on your lower lashes. Take this out for a test ride and see what you think before you transition to all your lashes.
The NYX mascara offers an insane color payoff. Try it in blue! This is also an affordable option, which is great because if you are not a fan then it won’t have drained your pocket. Here’s link to Amazon.
So, if our suggestion for a half and half approach as outlined above is still too much of a commitment then you may want to try the overlay method. That’s where you put on a first layer of black and then another layer of blue. That way you get just a hint of blue. It’s a good first step…
Use your blue mascara with a nude lip and nude eye. This will bring the focal point to your bright blue eyelashes and give you the pop of color that you need to stand out.
If you’re looking for a high end mascara, Dior offers a blue mascara that sells out! Here’s a link to Sephora. We’re especially partial to it because it’s paraben and sulfate free! It has microfibers that build on each other so you can create the lengthy lashes you’ve been looking for while not risking the health of your eyelashes.
If you’re not quite sold yet, we get it. But if there’s anything we’ve learned about makeup, it’s that it can be tested and removed at the end of the night. Voila! You don’t have to be married to any one product, color, or formula that you try. It is true that blue mascara is making a successful comeback, but if it’s not your thing then it’s not your thing.
